OpenERP 6.1.1 server appliance

OpenERP Appliance Forum

OpenERP 6.1.1 server Appliance is now available for sale. It is based on Turnkey Linux Library 11.3 (Ubuntu 10.04) and  includes an ‘openerp-update fast‘ option for faster updates of openerp source code without prompts. Branches included: openerp-server, openerp-web, openerp-client, addons, openerp-spain (disabled), magentoerpconnect, prestashoperpconnect, e-commerce-addons, openobject-extension. Extra-Addons is no longer included as it’s full of junk and is supposed to disappear soon. If you need it you can always add it as any other community branch as explained below. Bazaar branches are now located in /home/openerp instead of the longer path /home/openerp/workspace, with the goal of simplifying the writing and reading of addons_path in /etc/openerp-server.conf.

E-Junkie is the e-commerce provider chosen for selling digital media at openerpappliance.com. The download link will expire after 120 hours (5 days) or after 5 attempts, which ever event happens first

Openerp login credentials are set up during the database creation, by default admin/openerp (required for backup/restore from openerp clients) and demo/demo.

OpenERP source code is update-able by running openerp-update command inside ‘openerp’ linux acount. Remember to login as linux user acount “openerp” with default password “openerp. As an interesting feature, openerp-update offers the possibility of reverse updating openerp-server, openerp-web, openerp-client and addons (branches with bzr milestones). Also note that openerp-update script is not longer obfuscated.

Please run ‘openerp-update fast’ in order to obtain latest commits available on Launchpad if you want HTTPS to work on your appliance (reverse proxy option). Otherwise openerp-web will fail. I was supposed to wait for v6.1.2 before publishing a 6.1 stable release, but at the end the 6.1.2 release is not coming out yet and I really need the money…

Example of how to add a new community branch to openerp-update:

  1. cd /home/openerp/
  2. bzr branch lp:openerp-spain
  3. Update addons-path in /etc/openerp-server.conf by adding ‘/home/openerp/openerp-spain’
  4. openerp-update
